Carson Arthur: Landscape Designer on 'Green Force' on HGTV

Carson Arthur started his television career as a behind-the-scenes prop coordinator for a national garden call-in show. Very quickly, Carson turned an opportunity to host his own show into a landscape design staple. With international coverage, Carson has become a voice of environmentally friendly landscape design on a global scale. By addressing outdoor challenges with a keen sense of style and a passion for eco-consciousness, Carson continues to reinvent the definition of gardening.   With his first series, Room To Grow, Carson created inspired outdoor spaces for homeowners and taught a generation of viewers how to increase their own living spaces by expanding outside. Following on the heels of his first success, Green Force provided Carson with the opportunity to take on some of the largest challenges associated with urban living. Carson and his team travel throughout a large urban center and tackle some of the most depressing, under-utilized, and forgotten spaces around us turning them into parks and beautiful art installations while using environmentally friendly techniques and products.

Carson takes pride in where he lives and what he does. As the spokesperson for both the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Canadian Immunization Program and for BluePlanet Environmentals, Carson has made the most of his television career to date by being active in helping to develop a better understanding of green living within a social context. When not in the dirt; building, planting writing or designing, Carson keeps himself busy with his own lines of patio furniture and gardening tools and as the principle designer for Carson Arthur Designs.

 Presentation:
 Saturday, March 17:      12:30pm

Kim will be offering tips and tricks to help you get the very best out of their renovation dollars.  So many clients are wandering in the dark when it comes to what part of their home to renovate and where to best spend their money.  Kim will show some before and after photos showing you how and WHERE to focus your efforts during a renovation.  Where the money is best spent and what returns the most on resale.   Kim will briefly talk about colour psychology and encourages attendees to the sessions to bring photos of their homes for the question and answer period.
Kim has been an Interior Designer for 14 years. She obtained her education while at home with my new baby daughter, who is now 18!  She was born and raised in Medicine Hat and moved to Central Alberta 6 years ago.  Kim has been working at Carpet Colour Centre ever since she landed here and absolutely loves the people she works for and with.
Kim has a wide range of experience in design but focuses mostly on renovation and restoration which is a passion of hers, especially working on older homes.  Kim has owned and restored two character homes in her life and hopes to continue to buy and restore these ageless beauties.  Her design philosophy is to listen and work with the client, focusing on THEIR needs and helping them achieve their design dreams within their budgets.  Kim’s best business card is the glowing referrals from her clients!

Other than design, Kim is an active live music fan and has hosted concerts in her home for wandering minstrals from Toronto to Vancouver!  She enjoys singing and have taught music lessons.  Kim is a staff writer for the Red Deer Express and truly enjoys sharing ideas about design and better living through her articles.

Presentation:
Friday, March 16:          4:00pm
Saturday, March 17:      4:00pm

There is a change coming in the Homebuilding (and Renovation) Industry. Builders, renovators, customers, and all levels of government are paying more attention to the effect we are having on the environment in which we live. The homes we live in have a large impact on the environment. Our choices in how we build and how we operate our homes will continue to affect the environment for years to come.
So what can we do? More importantly, how much is this going to cost me? The answers will surprise you! You can help the environment & save money all at the same time! It’s all about making the right choices. Dave Turnbull, Product Development Manager and Sustainability Director for the Landmark Group of Builders, will discuss the choices we can make in our new home (or our existing home) that will lessen the effect we have on the planet and possibly save us a bit of money along the way.
Dave is the Product Development Manager and Sustainability Director for the Landmark Group of Builders, one of Alberta’s largest residential construction companies. For the past 5 years Landmark has been one of the leaders in the homebuilding industry in the areas of sustainability and industrialization of the construction process.
